Call for Papers - ALSA & HKCML Joint Conference

ALSA and the Hong Kong Commercial and Maritime Law Centre (HKCML) will jointly hold a Conference entitled “Transplantation of Foreign Law and the Creation of Unique Legal Solutions in Asian Legal System” at City University of Hong Kong (travel restrictions permitting) and by Zoom on 13 Jan 2023. Proposals for papers to be presented at the Conference are now invited. We invite papers with insights on: • The transplantation of laws and institutions generally; • Tensions between transplanted norms and local norms; • Interesting adaptations of transplantations and associated transformations; • Problems common to the global community, the legal solutions…

Seminar on Revising Chinese Company Law (again): Academic Debates and Legislative Considerations

In view of the concerns on the most recent round of amendments ti China's company law, the Centre of Chinese and Comparative Law (CCCL) of City University of Hong Kong School of Law hosted a virtual seminar on 17 December 2021 on the theme of "Revising Chinese Company Law (again): Academic Debates and Legislative Considerations," which was co-organised with ALSA, Tsinghua Commercial Law Research Centre, and Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law, inviting Professor ZHU Ciyun and Professor Tang Xin as the keynote speakers. ALSA LOGO Design Competition

In order to reinforce the identity of ALSA and to replace the temporary ALSA logo, students from 22 founding member institutions were invited to participate in the ALSA Logo Design Competition, which has closed on 31 July 2021. After careful consideration, the judging panel comprising the board of governors has shortlisted the winning entries. ALSA is pleased to announce that the Grand Award, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up go to Lav ASRANI, WONG Ching Kwan and LIN Hoi Shun respectively.
