Universitas Pasundan

Faculty of Law, Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS) is one of the oldest faculties within the university, established under the auspices of the Universitas Pasundan Foundation. Founded on November 14, 1960, under Notary Deed No. 4 by Mr. Tan Eng Kiam, and later amended by Notary Deed No. 39 by Komar Andasasmita on March 24, 1967, the Faculty of Law was initially launched alongside the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences under the original names “Faculty of Law and Social Knowledge” and “Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.”

The inception of the Faculty of Law and Social and Political Sciences is deeply rooted in the longstanding efforts of the parent organization, Pagoejoeban Pasoendan, founded on July 20, 1913, by Sundanese students in the STOVIA (School Tot Opleiding Voor Indlandsche Artsen) medical school during the Dutch colonial period in Batavia (now Jakarta). Led by figures such as Daeng Kandoeroean Ardiwinata and Dajat Hidajat, the organization evolved in response to the social and political transformations across Asia, eventually fostering educational institutions through the Universitas Pasoendan Foundation. The foundation’s efforts were spearheaded by prominent individuals, including R. Soedarma Soeraatmadja, R. Atik Rolie, H. Ijos Wiraatmadja, Mr. Oesadi, and Tatang Kosasih. Inspired by these founders and with the support of Pagoejoeban Pasoendan, the Faculty of Law and Social Knowledge at Universitas Pasundan eventually grew into the Faculty of Law known today.

Driven by a commitment to continuous improvement, Faculty of Law, Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS) strives to uphold high academic standards and enhance its educational services. This dedication to quality is central to the institution’s responsibility to its students and the broader academic community. Achieving this goal requires a supportive academic environment, underpinned by comprehensive management practices, effective and humane communication, and a well-integrated approach across all faculty components. The commitment of every member of the faculty, combined with adequate facilities, is essential for fostering an atmosphere conducive to active learning, intellectual growth, and personal development.

Currently, Faculty of Law, Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS) offers a single undergraduate program, the Bachelor of Laws in Legal Studies. Graduate programs, including the Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Legal Studies, are managed by the Graduate School. Faculty of Law, Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS) is staffed by a highly qualified academic team, comprising professors, doctorate holders, and master’s degree lecturers, along with professionals from the business and legal sectors. This diverse faculty enables the robust exchange of legal knowledge and supports the academic and professional growth of its students.
