National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, is a State Public University established by Act No. 4 of Jharkhand State Assembly in 2010.
The University is located on a 63-acre eco-friendly campus in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. The University has subsequently been recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) in September 2011 u/s 22, u/s 12B in the year 2018 of the UGC Act of 1956 and the degrees offered are recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Since its establishment, NUSRL has been committed to excellence in legal education, research, professional training and public service. The University started functioning in September 2010. The University has been included as a member of the CLAT w.e.f. CLAT 2012.
The University offers B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), (5 Years); B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), (5 Years); LL.M., (1 year); and Ph.D. in Law and Social Sciences. Further the University also offers Diploma and certificate Programmes in law and allied disciplines and provides a supportive academic environment that encourages critical thinking, ethical scholarship, advocacy skills, interdisciplinary learning and social responsibility.
NUSRL is guided by constitutional values, access to justice and the rule of law. Through its research centres, legal aid initiatives, academic collaborations, seminars, conferences and community outreach programmes it actively engages with issues relating to child rights, consumer protection, intellectual property, policy research, legal empowerment and social justice. The University seeks to prepare globally competent legal professionals, scholars and future leaders committed to justice, equality, governance and sustainable development.
