Victoria University of Wellington

The Victoria University of Wellington was founded in 1897. The Faculty of Law is placed right at the heart of New Zealand’s legal district—opposite the Beehive and Parliament and surrounded by the Supreme Court on one side, the High Court on the other with other government buildings and law firms a stone throw away. The Faculty of Law is hailed as a hub of legal research that garners local and international recognition. The Faculty members are experts in their fields and initiate legal debate on current issues. A focus on innovative teaching helps the Faculty to empower the Law students to demonstrate, in the context of legal studies, intellectual autonomy, independence of thought, openness to new ideas, and a capacity to manage their own learning.
